Message to Expextant Moms-Don’t Stress!
New research suggests that women who are stressed during a pregnancy are most likely to have a child that will develop asthma or allergies later in life.
The study, which was funded by a grant from the U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, included 315 expectant mothers and their infants. All of the mothers lived in an urban environment.
Mothers filled out a questionnaire designed to assess their levels of stress in many different domains. Financial issues, home issues, community safety, relationship problems and medical issues were the most frequently reported negative events experienced by the mothers.
Although the article isn’t making any specific recommendations as to how to reduce one’s stress, it says that for your general well-being, it’s a good idea to reduce your stress levels whenever possible. Hmmm. That’s sort of helpful?

Goodness, my EGGS are probably already allergic to everything under the sun.

Yes, let’s all sit back in our expensive lounge chairs, hand over any other children we may have to their nanny, have our feet massaged and be completely stress-free…
This would be useful if they talked about ways to actually reduce stress instead of just stating the obvious.
