Choice USA Privacy Statement
This privacy statement covers the Choice USA Web site []. Choice USA respects the privacy of visitors to our Web site, and this document explains our information and privacy practices.

Users who have questions or concerns regarding this statement should contact Choice USA's Web producer, using the contact information provided at the end of this document.

Information Collection
Choice USA is the sole owner of the information collected on the Choice USA Web site. Choice USA collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site.

Choice USA collects information about our subscribers' use of the Service in order to improve and better target our content. We collect both Personal Information, such as email addresses, passwords, and user ids; and demographic information, such as zip codes, state of residence and dates of birth. The following list includes the different types of information we collect:

Personal Information
"Personal Information" is information that would allow someone to identify or contact You, including, for example, Your e-mail address. Choice USA uses this information to deliver services to our Web site visitors, such as our email Newsletter. Personal Information does not include aggregated information or information about You that, by itself, does not permit the identification of individual persons. For example, statistics about how many persons visited our Web site last month is not Personal Information.

Non-personally Identifiable Information
"Non-personally Identifiable Information" is anonymous information about You that does not include Your name or contact information. For instance, the links that You save and share via the Service is Non-personally Identifiable Information. We use this information to customize the Service for You and will not include or refer to Personal Information, such as Your e-mail address, when using this type of data.

Aggregated Information
"Aggregated Information" refers to information we gather by aggregating Non-personally Identifiable Information to provide a summary of our subscribers. We use Aggregated Information to show usage patterns and to do such things as operate our site or negotiate with vendors. Examples of such aggregated data would be an IP address, browser type or access time. Such Information is not linked to Your Personal Information.

Order Form
We request information from the user on our order/donation form. A user must provide contact information (such as name, email, and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number, expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill customer's orders. If we have trouble processing an order, the information is used to contact the user.

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. We use both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users close the browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on the user's hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions.

Setting cookies on our Web site saves users time, by storing frequently used information that would otherwise have to be re-entered each time a feature was used. If users reject cookies, they may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user may be limited in some areas of our site.

Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers, we use log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We use a tracking utility called Webalizer that uses log files to analyze user movement. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Communications from the Site
When you register with the Web site to receive information, you are given the opportunity to opt-in or opt-out of several mailing lists. You may choose to receive Newsletters (which contain news, announcements, and updates on additions to the Web site) or Action Alerts (opportunities to use our legislative action center to lobby your elected representatives). You may also choose to be personally contacted by our staff, for more information about joining Choice USA. If you register to vote through our site, you will receive a completed National Voter Registration Form to sign and mail to your local election office. If you subscribe to our Newsletter or Action Alerts and decide you no longer want to receive material from us, see the Opt-out section of this document.

Sharing - Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on our Web site.

Sharing of Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable) We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners for the purposes of better serving our users. This is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Sharing with Third Party Service Providers
We partner with third parties to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these particular services, we share names, email addresses, or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These third parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services. The privacy policies of these third-party services are provided on their respective Web sites, and are made available through links when a site visitor uses these services.

Users of our site are always notified when their information is being collected by any outside parties. We do this so our users can make an informed choice as to whether or not they should proceed with services that require an outside party.

Choice USA uses the following third-party service providers on this Web site:

Provides the "Take Action" legislative action center, donate, and online store features. No online privacy policy is available because the information stored in the DemocracyInAction database through this Web site is the sole property of Choice USA and cannot be used for any purpose other than providing this service.

Business Transitions
In the event Choice USA goes through a business transition, such as a merger, being acquired by another company, or selling a portion of its assets, users' personal information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. Users will be notified by a prominent notice on our Web site prior to a change of ownership or control of their personal information. If as a result of the business transition, the users' personally identifiable information will be used in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, they will be given a choice consistent with our notification of changes section.

Our users are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having their information used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point where we ask for information. For example, our Affiliate discussion area registration form has an 'opt-out' mechanism so users who want to use the discussion forums, but don't want any marketing material, can keep their email address off of the lists of other companies.

This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we, Choice USA, are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.

This Web site takes every precaution to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information via the Web site, their information is protected both online and off-line.

When the Choice USA Store order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when users are just 'surfing'.

Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if a user no longer desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate users' personally identifiable information. Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

If, however, we are going to use users' personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice as to whether or not we use their information in this different manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a notice on our Web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post a notice we will also email users, who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
