Who We Work With

Choice USA is the voice for young people in the reproductive justice movement. We are youth-led, controlled, focused and centered.

We give young people – who are the first to be compromised and the most politically vulnerable – power to take into their own hands decisions that affect their lives. We place trust in young people as the sustaining force in the future of our movement and respect the diversity of their experiences as youth. By placing youth at our center and engaging their allies, Choice USA broadens our movement and builds bridges to other progressive causes.

protest_girls_copyIn 2002, during our 10th anniversary, Choice USA unveiled a new identity as an exclusively a youth-led and focused reproductive rights organization creating  programs that incorporate the lessons learned from our research (and validated by our field experience) to regain young people’s support.

Today, our programs reach young people, ages 15-30, in every region of the country and we have built a strong base of credibility with young activists who praise our leadership development programs, our commitment to mentoring, and our empowering approach to mobilizing and organizing young people.

Collaborations and Partnerships:

Choice USA is committed to cross-movement organizing as a way to broaden the message and our reach to diverse constituencies. Our collaboration with national and state organizations of progressive students puts reproductive rights on the student movement’s agenda, provides opportunities for pro-choice activism to students who support reproductive rights but have not been engaged by the pro-choice movement, and educates young progressives about the importance of reproductive rights issues and their links to other elements of a progressive agenda. Collaborations with local and national social justice organizations allows us to include components in our leadership development programs that introduce young people to the intersections between reproductive rights issues and other issues such as welfare reform, the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) movement, and race and class. We aim to encourage young progressives to treat reproductive rights as central to the progressive agenda as racial, global and economic justice, and to teach young pro-choice activists the importance of other progressive issues to achieving full, meaningful reproductive rights for all women.
