A Values-Based Policy Vision and Framework for Reproductive and Sexual Justice

As with much of the progressive movement, the outcome of the recent midterm elections signal a significant climate shift, coupled with emerging opportunities in the policy arena, for our nation’s pro-choice youth.  Unlike the landscape after the 2004 elections, enthusiasm for youth-organizing is emergent as the frustration and disappointment of 2004 voter action campaigns transforms into a strong, energetic and mobilized youth base.  Then, as now, utilizing our unique multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-gender youth lens, Choice USA is at the forefront of pro-active grassroots mobilization, and enters this new political climate poised to be a national leader in engaging young people in collaborative policy change that is grounded in our momentum and movement-building mission, vision, core beliefs and values. 

To truly realize our vision – a world where real reproductive and sexual choice, including access to safe and legal abortion care, comprehensive sexual education, and access to a full range of contraception – is available to all people – Choice USA will embrace policies that fight for, but move far beyond, the cornerstones of the reproductive and sexual rights movement to shape  a policy environment that is inherently a just one, recognizing, protecting, expanding and making readily available to each person worldwide the knowledge,  ability and tools for safe and healthy relationships; to decide when, if and how you will have sex;  to decide when, if and how pregnancy will occur and once a pregnancy occurs, if it will be carried to term; and to effectively parent.
